Kolkata: To facilitate travel between the Green and Blue Lines, the Esplanade Metro Subway has a new entry gate

The Howrah Maidan-Esplanade Green Line-2 has seen an increase in commuter use since the start of commercial services.

With its easy connection from Howrah station to the city center, it has grown rapidly to become one of the busiest metro networks in Kolkata.

Travelers may easily switch between the Green Line and Blue Line Corridors at Esplanade Station, giving them access to places like Dakshineswar and Kavi Subhash.

According to TOI, the Kolkata Metro Authorities have added a new entrance to the subterranean subway that connects these two lines in order to improve passenger convenience.

Passenger flow between the Blue Line and Green Line corridors will be greatly facilitated by the building of a 12-foot fence, especially during rush hour. Since the start of service between Esplanade and Howrah, the number of passengers using the Esplanade metro station—which serves as the intersection of the Blue and Green lines—has increased significantly.

Queue management had to keep people in and out of both corridors separated by a 9-foot-wide channel before. Travelers’ commutes will be made easier with the addition of the new gate, which will only allow inbound transit from the Green Line to the Blue Line.

The metro officials have put up posters, stickers, and banners that will direct passengers to their stations in order to guarantee the free and easy flow of travelers.

In addition, metro employees will be on hand to assist travelers. Additionally, the new Esplanade 6 Metro station and the old Esplanade Metro station both have specific suggestive footprints painted in blue and green by the metro authority. Passengers may easily access the New Esplanade platform by following the green footprints after disembarking at the Old Esplanade station.

The Howrah Maidan-Esplanade segment, the country’s first transit tunnel under a river, is a revolutionary addition to the metro networks.
