Offices up to the fourth floor of Visvesvaraya Bhawan, which was damaged by the fire, will be able to open from Monday. For the time being, the offices on the fifth and sixth floors will be kept closed. Preparations are being made to shift these offices to another building.
IIT experts gave green signal
This decision has been taken on the basis of the investigation report submitted by a three-member expert team of IIT, Patna. The same team was headed by Dr. Vaibhav Singhal, Head of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT, Patna. A massive fire broke out in Visvesvaraya Bhawan on May 11.
Found the building safe till the fourth floor
On Friday, a team of experts from IIT Patna visited every floor of Visvesvaraya Bhavan and examined it from every angle of security. The team of experts found the building safe till the fourth floor. At the same time, after getting the fifth and sixth floors cleaned, once again the need for investigation was told. The team gave its written report to the building construction department secretary Kumar Ravi.
Rural works department will go to the extended building of the main secretariat
The Rural Works Department has suffered the most due to the fire. Most of the work of this department was conducted from the fifth floor itself. The department is likely to get a place in the extended building of the main secretariat near the office of the tourism corporation. It is expected that from Monday, the personnel of the Rural Works Department will be able to sit and work from the new site. At present, other top officials including the Secretary and Chief Engineer of the Rural Works Department are working sitting in the office of the Bridge Construction Corporation.
After cleaning the fifth and sixth floors, the investigation will be done again
Secretary, Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi said that after the report of experts of IIT Patna, permission has been given for the entry of general personnel till the fourth floor. On Saturday and Sunday, the electrical wiring will be checked till the fourth floor. Normal work will be done here from Monday. Only scavengers will be able to go to the fifth and sixth floors. The personnel are not allowed to enter there. After cleaning, the experts of IIT Patna will examine again. Decision will be taken on the basis of their report.
