Munna Kumar and Suresh Rai of Saha village have been sentenced to life imprisonment for kidnapping and gang-raping a five-year-old girl from a nomadic family living in a tent in Sakra police station area. Both will also have to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh each. After the session-trial of the case, Special POCSO Court No.-1 Judge Sanjeev Kumar Pandey sentenced him to this sentence. On behalf of the prosecution, Special Public Prosecutor (PACO) Narendra Kumar produced seven witnesses before the special court.
FIR against two unknown
On May 30, 2018, the girl's mother had lodged an FIR against two unidentified persons at the Sakra police station. She had said that she is originally from Saraiya police station area. For a month, she has been living with her husband and children by putting up a tent in the Sakra police station area. She roams around the area and sells vermilion and garlands. On the night of 29 May 2018, she slept in the tent with the family after having dinner. When I woke up at around one o'clock in the night, I saw that all the children were sleeping in the tent, but the five-year-old girl was missing. When she searched for the girl with her husband, the girl came crying from the west direction. The girl told that two people took her away and raped her. She was taken to Sakra Referral Hospital. From there he was referred to Sadar Hospital.
The detective took the police to the Raj
It was a blind case for the police. To identify the accused, the police activated the detectives in the area. A detective informed that there is a whisper among the people in Saha village that Munna and Suresh have carried out this incident. Police took Munna Kumar into custody. During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in the incident. He confessed to carrying out the incident along with Suresh Rai of the village intoxicated. He told that after the rape, the girl was left on the side of the road thinking it to be dead. The next day, when the information about the child's survival was received, both were trying to leave the village and run away. On June 2, 2018, the police arrested both of them and produced them before the special POCSO Court. From there both were sent to jail. After completing the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against both of them in the special court on 20 August 2018.

During the session-trial, both the accused, who were in jail, were produced before the special court through video conferencing. In the course of her testimony, the girl identified both of them. The Special Court considered solid evidence to convict both of them.
Decision increased respect for law: Narendra
Special Public Prosecutor Paxo Narendra Kumar said that after this incident due to being a nomad, the family moved from Sakra to another place. It took a lot of effort to be called for testimony in court. Expressing happiness over the court's decision, he said that it has increased the respect of law in the society.
