Vaishali stands first in Bihar in PM housing completion: District Magistrate

DM Yashpal Meena reviewed the progress in water-life-greenery, MNREGA, PM housing, and waste management in his office room and directed to complete the district plantation target by August 10.

It was found in the review that the district has achieved a target of planting 5,67,600 saplings in the financial year 2022-23, against which 1,33,560 saplings have been planted so far. In the meeting, the Deputy Development Commissioner informed that a target has been set to plant 11 units i.e. 2200 saplings in each Panchayat of the district.

During this, when asked about the best and least performing block of the District Magistrate, the Deputy Development Commissioner said that against the target of planting 26,400 saplings in Chehrakalan block, 18,000 saplings have been planted, the achievement of which is 68 percent, which is the highest in the district. On the other hand, Goraul block is second with 58 percent achievement, while in Mahnar block, DM expressed strong displeasure over the lowest achievement of only 9 percent and directed to seek clarification from the PO (MNREGA) of Mahnar. The District Magistrate inquired from the PO of Bhagwanpur block about doing physical verification of the plantation. He said that so far seven schemes have been verified. The DM expressed displeasure over the verification of the scheme and directed all the POs to do physical verification of the schemes. District Engineer (MNREGA) and District Program Officer (MNREGA) were also directed to verify the schemes.

The District Magistrate said that the marking and geo-tagging of the saplings being planted should be done. In the course of reviewing Amrit Sarovar, Deputy Development Commissioner informed that 22 lakes have been completed so far. A total of 88 targets were achieved, out of which work is going on on 61 so far. The District Magistrate directed all the ponds to be completed before August 15. On the other hand, about the waste management unit, Deputy Development Commissioner said that land has been identified for this at 39 places and construction work is going on at 17 places. It was told in the review of MGNREGA that 28,699 workers have been employed in the district, out of which 2981 workers have been employed in Jandaha block, 2681 in Bhagwanpur, 2611 in Mahua, and 2370 in Rajapakar block. Whereas in the Desari block, 430 workers are employed and in Chehrakala the least 901 workers are working. On being asked about timely payment of honorarium of the District Magistrate, it was told that 93 percent payment is being made on time. Regarding housing plus under PM Awas Yojana (Rural), it was told that against the total target of 44,793 in the financial year 2021-22, 19,080 houses have been completed so far. The second installment has been given to 31,553 beneficiaries and the third installment has been given to 12,849 beneficiaries. At present Vaishali district is maintaining the first position in Bihar on the basis of the completion of houses.
