Ashwin Dani, a Non-Executive Director of Asian Paints, dies

According to news sources, non-executive director Ashwani Dani of Asian Paints has away at the age of 79.

On June 23, 2021, the Asian Paints board approved the selection of Deepak Satwalekar as chairman of the board and announced that Ashwin Dani will continue to serve as a non-executive/promoter director on the board of the organization.

Asian Paints expanded internationally under Ashwin Dani’s direction, eventually becoming a significant participant in the international paint market. In India, he was a key figure in the development of a computerized color mixing software.

In 1968, Dani started working for Asian Paints, a business that his father and three other men had established in 1942. From December 1998 until March 2009, he served as Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the business.

Dani worked as a development chemist for Inmont Corp in Detroit, US, before joining Asian Paints.

In addition to his business ventures, Ashwin loved collecting art and was a dedicated yoga practitioner. His family’s wealth is estimated by Forbes to be 68,000 crore.

Dani, a native of Mumbai, started his academic career by earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mumbai’s Institute of Science. He then pursued a Master’s degree in polymer science at the University of Akron in Ohio before earning a certificate in color science from Troy, New York’s Rensselaer Polytechnic.
