At the Galaxy S24 launch event, Samsung could bring its Galaxy Smart Ring

The Samsung Galaxy S24 event at the start of 2019 is expected to be a smashing success, not only because the new Galaxy S24 smartphone will be presented there, but also because a brand-new product category will be introduced to the public. A tipster said in a post that the South Korean company would debut the Galaxy Ring during the next Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2024.

Although there is still much to learn about the Samsung device, all indications point to a bright future for the smart ring, and one that will come quickly. Samsung always wanted to have a product in this form since the business received a patent for a smart ring in 2015.

Given the recent boom in this market, Samsung may have good reason to investigate the product category, and their possession of a patent for the gadget plus the moniker Galaxy Ring almost puts them over the top.

The smart ring will enable you to operate smart home gadgets, dim the lights, and other actions by just twisting the ring on your wrist, according to the device’s patent.

An early this year Reddit user discovered the Galaxy Ring in the Samsung Health Beta app. Additionally, given that the gadget has been referenced in the Health platform, it’s possible that Samsung may upgrade the rumored Galaxy Ring’s capabilities and include health-tracking functionality. According to the source, Samsung may use the smart ring as the main tool for monitoring one’s health, relegating the Galaxy Watch line to a supporting role.

The market for smart rings is likely to see other tech giants emerge than just Samsung. Apple is also widely believed to be interested in this market and may introduce a product in the near future. It goes without saying that a ring has a strong chance of becoming a useful health tracker since you can wear it normally without having to worry about a screen. But when the device is officially released, the notifications will buzz on the fingers, which may take some getting used to.
