“Before… I didn’t believe in weekends or vacations,” said Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft

The creator of one of the largest software companies had his opinions on weekends and vacations challenged by something. With a market value of an astounding $2.78 trillion, Microsoft is one of the most well-known computer companies worldwide. Bill Gates, the creator of Microsoft, recently said in a blog post that he didn’t believe weekends and holidays were significant.

Bill Gates has one of the most inspirational success stories of all time since he and his boyhood buddy Paul Allen created Microsoft from the bottom up and elevated it to new heights. During his address, Gates spoke about how, when he was younger, he didn’t understand the importance of weekends and vacations.

In his blog, the founder of Microsoft said, “I didn’t think weekends and vacations were important when I was my kids’ age. But as I grew older, and particularly after becoming a parent, I understood that life is about more than just work.”

Remarking that seeing his kids grow up has been a “invaluable source of wisdom in their own right,” Bill Gates underscored the importance of life experiences that go beyond one’s work career.

Bill Gates’ words align with the recent revelation that Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, rose to prominence by promoting the idea that young people in the nation should work seventy hours a week in order to progress the nation. Gates used to have similar views, but now days he stresses the need of finding a work-life balance.

The billionaire said on his blog, “I hope you’re able to take some time this holiday season to have fun and relax before we dive into 2024.”
