To further strengthen its performance in the Indian car market, to secure its footsteps and targets, South Korean automaker Kia plans to introduce new models in the market here. The company is also planning to reduce the waiting period of the product range to further strengthen the sales network and increase the production capacity.
Currently, the company selling three models in the country is focusing on preparing a mid-size multi purpose vehicle (MPV) for the market. The carmaker hopes that from the festive season this year, the market will help in recovering from the impact of Kovid-19. Kia India Executive Director and Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer Tae-Jin Park said that, we are currently focusing on the SUV and MPV segment. Currently, Kia sells Carnival in the premium MPV segment.
Regarding launching an electric vehicle in the Indian market, the company said that it is studying the market scenario closely because the Indian government is also focusing on bringing more electric vehicles here. Park said that, we are analyzing what kind of EV can be launched in this market. We have not finalized it yet but we are looking at it.
Speaking about the current state of auto sales in the country due to uncertainty due to the coronovirus crisis, Hardeep Singh Brar, Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India said that, the company believes that if things remain the same then the volume of the industry Will be affected He further said that, we are totally dependent on how much we are able to produce and how much we are producing, despite the waiting period of whatever we are producing.
Explain that, with its increased production, the brand now wants to reach even smaller cities. He also said that the company is focusing on increasing manpower and logistics capacity. The brand's plant at Anantapur has a production capacity of three lakh cars every year. As such, the company plans to build 350 dealerships this year, especially to expand the network by 50 odd outlets in tier three, tier four areas.
