Deepfake videos of Ashishkumar Chauhan, the MD and CEO of the NSE, suggest stocks were created by AI and quickly gained popularity on social media. Afterwards, an alert was released by the National Stock Exchange (NSE), cautioning investors against falling for deep-fake or artificial intelligence (AI)-generated films. Investors are advised to take caution and depend only on validated information obtained via the Exchange’s official channels, as per the official statement released by the NSE.

The alert pointed out that several fraudulent movies have appeared online that purport to provide misleading investing advice from the NSE. These videos use advanced technology to replicate the voice and facial gestures of Chauhan.

Please take notice that NSE staff members are not permitted to trade in or suggest any stocks. Furthermore, NSE endeavors to urge that these platforms remove these inappropriate films whenever feasible,” an NSE announcement said.

The NSE advise also reminded the investor of its communication procedure, reiterating that its website, www.nseindia.com, and its verified social media accounts are the only places where official statements are communicated.

The NSE once again referred to its official social media pages and urged consumers to confirm the veracity of the information they were receiving. The warning notice is released at a time when worries about the spread of false information and fake news that prey on gullible investors in the financial markets are intensifying.
