After clicking a link that promised extra income, a Home tutor loses Rs. 5 lakh

In India, con artists are rapidly developing new techniques. Lucrative part-time job offers that tempt users to make additional money are among the hot favorites of these con artists as internet frauds continue to proliferate. However, this develops into a money trail in which the victim invests a significant sum of money under the premise of returns. But the fraudster pulled off a cunning play with this. One of the most recent cases involving this fraud was a home instructor who lost Rs 5 lakh after falling for the con artists’ false promise of more revenue.

Praja Nandan Kulkarni, 48, an instructor from Maharashtra, is described as such by India Today. She looked for employment online in an effort to diversify the sources of money she was receiving. She was intrigued to a job posting on one of these websites since it offered respectable pay in return for part-time labor. The method was similar to the ‘like video’ trick used by con artists.

In exchange for her joining a Telegram channel, the scam artist said she could get money by favoriting social media posts. Kulkarni first got 400 profit, but as the trust became stronger, she spent Rs. 5 lakh in hopes of receiving even greater profits.

She lost the money and got no returns, however, since the swindle became apparent at this point. In accordance with the relevant IPC and IT Act provisions, a case was filed. Jayant Rajurkar, a police officer at Sinhagad Road, stated that no one offers money in return for a like on a video, urging additional caution over the duties completed in exchange for quick money.

A legitimate business or employer would never demand an investment from a worker, Rajurkar said. Additionally, a reader should be aware that this is not the only example in recent memory. Similar situations may be read about here.
