Meet the CEO of a Rs 958 billion company, an IIT alumnus who works for one of the largest

One of the most prominent engineering schools in India, the Indian Institute of Technology, confers a great deal of prestige to its graduates. An IITian’s first impression is that they are bright, capable of pursuing jobs in research and development (R&D), and desirable candidates for employment by large corporations due to their potential for financial gain.

One such person who elevated TVS Motors, the third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, to new heights is K N Radhakrishnan. In addition to completing a Management Education Program at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, Radhakrishnan has a Master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai.

Prior to taking on his present post, Radhakrishnan held the positions of Executive Vice President (India operations) and President & CEO of TVS Motor Company. He began his career as a management trainee with Sundaram-Clayton Limited, the parent company.

He has played a key role in making TVS Motor one of the top 10 motorbike manufacturers globally and a reputable motorcycle company in India thanks to his vast leadership expertise. His unrelenting commitment and diligence have resulted in the firm being awarded the coveted TPM Excellence Award by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance in 2004 as well as the highly respected Deming Application Prize by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, Japan, in 2002. Under his direction, the business opened its overseas facility in Indonesia in 2007 and entered the three-wheeler industry in 2008.

TVS Motors has effectively realized the aspirations of the common person by providing a bike at an affordable price. The company’s scooters, particularly the TVS Scooty, which is popular among Indian women, have had a significant impact. At now, the third-biggest Indian motorbike manufacturer is valued at Rs 958.73 billion.
