Musk meets with the president of Sri Lanka in Indonesia and talks about implementing Starlink

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Sunday at the 10th World Water Forum in Indonesia, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD) of Sri Lanka.

Wickremesinghe and the tech mogul discussed the introduction of Starlink service in Sri Lanka, and Wickremesinghe pledged to expedite the application process to link Sri Lanka to the international Starlink network, according to a post on X by PMD.

“President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with @elonmusk to discuss the implementation of @Starlink in Sri Lanka during the 10th World Water Forum High-Level Meeting in Indonesia,” PMD said.

Wickremesinghe traveled to Indonesia with the Sri Lankan Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Jeevan Thondaman. Thondaman wrote on X that Musk and the president spoke about new investment prospects, Sri Lanka’s economic potential, and the country’s recovery.

“Today, on his two-day visit to Bali with me for the World Water Forum, President @RW_UNP met with @elonmusk. Elon and the President spoke about new investment prospects, Sri Lanka’s economic potential, and its recovery,” Thondaman added.

Before SpaceX’s Starlink Internet service was scheduled to begin in Indonesia on Sunday morning, the tech tycoon landed in the Southeast Asian nation.
