Ola leaves Microsoft to give Krutrim more work

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, taking aim at Microsoft and its subsidiary LinkedIn, said in a post that India must create its own digital platforms in order to avoid the possibility of being “governed” and “culturally subsumed” by large, western tech companies.

Aggarwal, who is boycotting Microsoft, said that Ola, a current Microsoft Azure user, would stop using its services and move all of its workload to its in-house Krutrim cloud within a week.

The CEO’s tweet criticizing LinkedIn’s AI for “imposing a political ideology on Indian users” was withdrawn by LinkedIn, which sparked the outcry.

He had posted a screen grab of a generative AI answer that described Aggarwal using the pronoun “they/their.” Criticizing the “pronoun illness,” he expressed his hope that India would not be affected by the practice. Aggarwal urged the Indian developer community to create a social media framework for digital public infrastructure.
