On stable worldwide trends, markets rise in early trading; purchases in Reliance and ITC

Early on Wednesday, buying in Reliance Industries and ITC as well as solid global market trends led to gains in benchmark equity indexes.

 

In early trading, the 30-share BSE Sensex increased by 212.21 points to 74,165.52. The NSE Nifty reached 22,577.40, up 48.35 points.

Reliance Industries, NTPC, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Nestle, and ITC were the top gainers among Sensex companies.

Among the laggards were Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, JSW Steel, and State Bank of India.

Tokyo quoted lower than Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, which were all trading in positive territory in the Asian markets.

On Tuesday, Wall Street closed in the green.

The benchmark for global oil, Brent crude, fell 0.69 percent to USD 82.31 a barrel.

According to exchange statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold off stocks on Tuesday for a total of Rs 1,874.54 crore.

On Tuesday, the BSE benchmark fell 52.63 points, or 0.07 percent, to end the day at 73,953.31.

On the other hand, the Nifty finished higher at 22,529.05., up 27.05 points or 0.12%.
