TCS Onboarding Delay: IT Employees Union Requests Intervention From The Labour Ministry As TCS Postpones Accepting Lateral Hires

The onboarding of numerous lateral workers was allegedly delayed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), prompting an IT employees union to write a petition to the labour minister requesting action. The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has requested intervention from Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Labour and Employment.

The joining of more than 200 lateral personnel has reportedly been postponed by the IT behemoth by at least three months. These new recruits range in experience from 1.8 years to 15 years, and they are located in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, and Indore. The change occurred in the midst of the bribe-for-jobs controversy that TCS was slapped with last month.

In their letter, NITES said that this choice had put some individuals who had left their former positions to work for TCS through great difficulty. “The consequences of this delayed onboarding are particularly distressing considering the financial obligations and family responsibilities that the affected employees bear,” the letter said.

The union said that when the new hires arrived at the TCS offices on their joining date, they were told of the delay in their onboarding.

The union requested for three reliefs and urged the labor ministry to get involved so the impacted workers wouldn’t be punished for the decision. In the letter, the union asked that TCS be ordered to pay the affected workers their full salaries for the three months that their onboarding had been delayed, grant the workers access to TCS’s employee assistance program, and work with the workers to find alternative employment opportunities within TCS.
