The government waives export taxes on “Bangalore Rose” onions

‘Bangalore Rose’ onion exports are duty-free under the government’s exemption policy, subject to several restrictions.

The state horticulture commissioner must certify the item and amount of Bangalore Rose onion to be exported for the exporter to be in possession of the certificate issued by the Finance Ministry exempting Bangalore Rose onions from export duties.

To enhance domestic availability and slow the local market’s price surge, the government placed a 40% levy on all onion exports in August.
