Amid muted indications from global counterparts, the equities market began Friday’s trading day on a cautious tone. The S&P BSE Sensex began nearly unmoved and was quoted around the 66,000-mark. For the fourth day in a row, the NSE Nifty is seen this morning circling the 19,800 mark.
A few of the early movers among the Sensex 30 equities were NTPC, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, and Mahindra & Mahindra, while Bharti Airtel and HCL Technologies were dubious.
The BSE MidCap index was up 0.3% while the SmallCap index was up 0.6% on the overall market.
In other news, European markets saw a little uptick on Thursday despite the ECB’s increased anxiety about growth and evident efforts to maintain the “high for longer” stance in the meeting minutes from October. Energy shares increased as the study indicated that UK energy costs will increase by 5%.
Closer to home, Asian markets were uneven, with only Japan’s Nikkei solid trading. The US market was closed overnight for the Thanksgiving holiday and will resume with a shortened trading session later tonight.
