What Beta Strings On Android Tell Us About Future Features On Musk’s Microblogging App, From “Enhanced Discovery” To X Video Calls

New features for its premium user tier attract media attention on X (formerly known as Twitter). These features sometimes make their debuts without warning or previous information via leak channels. In other instances, media reports and tipsters may leak them. In keeping with the latter, Android Authority found two new feature strings on X that may soon be released.

Enhanced Discovery, the first, was discovered in the Android beta version X. The code fragment that contains the word “blue_upsell” may suggest that the functionality is only available to subscribers who have paid for it. The code says “Subscribe to Premium to unlock enhanced discovery”. Users will then be able to browse relevant information related to the original post.

The text of the features in the string states, “Similar posts let you find relevant content related to the subject matter of a post.” It’s unclear how the function will assist users in finding related information on the system. Users may now utilize the Explore page to filter searches using hashtags and keyword searches. Users may also utilize a “Advanced search” to further simplify output.

Coming Soon: X Video and Audio Calls
The study also included strings that make reference to the ability to make audio and video calls. Elon Musk, the owner of X, previously disclosed that the functionality will soon be available on the platform. A user recently leaked an early version of the functionality in use.

The Tesla CEO’s blog post states that the capability will function on Android, iOS, Mac, and desktop devices. It won’t need a phone number to operate. In a separate announcement, X said that X Premium accounts would now have the option to restrict access to commenting to just paying users for certain postings.

Once the functionality is activated, free users may see the comments but not react to them. Additionally, the business removed site links from postings’ rich preview cards on its platform. Here are additional details about this update.
