Actors from House of the Dragon Displeased With TikTok Meme: “A Decade’s Work Reduced To One Word”

A return to form for Westeros-set fiction was heralded by the prequel House of the Dragon (HOD), which was released three years after the contentious finale of Game of Thrones (GOT). On June 16, the second season of HOD is scheduled to debut. With stars Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy on the cover of the most current digital edition of Entertainment Weekly, season two marketing is already under way. They are still impacted, nevertheless, by a very well-known TikTok incident that happened during their Season 1 press trip.

In case you missed it, Cooke, who plays the older version of Queen Alicent Hightower, and Emma D’Arcy, who plays the older version of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, will promote House of the Dragon in 2022.

In one of the advertising ideas, the two actresses would ask each other questions by picking them at random from a bowl. Cooke said, “What is your favorite drink?” “Negroni Sbagliato with prosecco in it,” D’Arcy said.

Cooke responded, “Stunnin!” in her best Manchester UK accent, expressing her opinion that the drink selection was a little too lavish. Her “Stunning!” remark went viral and was turned into a meme on social media platforms such as TikTok.

Cooke acknowledges, “I did hate it [the meme] for a very long time,” in a recent interview with EW. She clarified, saying, “I was at the bar. “Stunnin’!” a lady said as she opened the door for me, her Spanish accent heavy. I thought, “Oh my God.” Thirteen years of labor condensed into one word in my vocabulary.

D’Arcy takes a calm approach to the matter, saying she is at a loss for words since it’s difficult to know how to react when you find yourself suddenly becoming a meme.

Cooke went on to detail the events that led up to the moment that became a meme. She said they were put in a room together, both of them quite jet-lagged, and they were just trying to make each other laugh and lighten the atmosphere.

“It makes no sense or follows any pattern.” A promotional film, title sequence, or scenario with Alicent and Rhaenyra standing on a life-size chess board is planned, according to ComicBook.com.

TikTok aficionados Cooke and D’Arcy realized they were entering a potentially meme-producing area and thought of the well-known Harry Potter chess scene meme in particular.

According to Cooke, they felt as if this was it when they first walked onto the chessboard.

They said that it took up all of their thoughts. They couldn’t go through with it since they thought it was “torture.”
