Adele Cancels Her Vegas Residency Show Dates In Order To “Rest” Her Voice: “I Have No Choice”

The singer-songwriter Adele recently announced that she had to cancel her much-anticipated “Weekends with Adele” residency in Las Vegas due to vocal cord health issues. The Grammy-winning singer made the announcement on her Instagram profile on Tuesday night.

“Unfortunately, I must halt and take a break from my Vegas residency. I felt unwell the whole final leg and throughout my break, the writer wrote.

“Unfortunately, it’s all taken a toll on my voice. I wasn’t able to fully recover before shows resumed, and now I’m sick again,” she concluded. And so, under the doctor’s directions, I am forced to take a full rest.

“The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date,” Adele ultimately said. She said her staff is already working on the specifics and that supporters would soon be made aware of them before concluding the post.

Adele wrote, “I love you, I’ll miss you like mad and I’m sorry for the inconvenience” as the caption for her post.

Adele has had difficulties with her Las Vegas residency before. The program was originally scheduled to premiere in January 2022, however it was delayed because to production issues and team members getting COVID-19. Adele shared her dismay on social media, stating that the illness had impacted half of her staff and that the event could not go forward as scheduled. “I’m devastated that I can’t offer you what I have right now. She had remarked, “I’m sorry it’s so last-minute, but I’m gutted.”

The residency ultimately started in November 2022 and ran until March 2023 in spite of the difficulties. Adele then added 32 extra dates for 2024 along with another leg that would run from June to November of 2023.

The 35-year-old singer spoke out to the crowd at her most recent “Weekends With Adele” performance in Las Vegas about how her inability to get enough sleep has damaged her ability to reach certain notes. She jokingly compared her singing style to Ursula from The Little Mermaid, according to Female First UK.

“I’m sure you can hear it in my talking voice and my singing voice,” Adele said. Your daughter was worn out. My sleep was not very good. And tonight, Ursula from the sea has sprung from my breast. I’m not hitting my headnotes correctly. My chest is burning, and I didn’t get much sleep. After this performance, I’m going to take a vocal break.
