After 25 years, Satya fame JD Chakravarthy is back in the crime drama genre

When it comes to examining the Mumbai underground, one of the most influential movies is Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya, which was released in 1998. The titular Satya, played by actor JD Chakravarthy, becomes involved in the criminal underground after being wrongfully convicted of a crime.

JD Chakravarthy will now play the lead role in the Disney Plus Hotstar-exclusive murder drama Dayaa. He’ll take on the part of Dayaa, a driver who’s scared after finding an unclaimed corpse in his freezer van. From August 4, Dayaa, a multilingual criminal drama series created and directed by Pavan Sadineni, will be available on Disney Plus Hotstar.

On July 15, the OTT platform debuted the series’ teaser, which begins with a news anchor going missing. The trailer demonstrates how the government makes every effort to find the anchor but is unable. Finally, the driver, Dayaa, discovers the anchor’s corpse inside his van and makes an effort to dispose of it.

The teaser piqued the interest of social media users, and many of them noted that it was a replica of the Bangladeshi web serial Taqdeer. Taqdeer, a production by Saleh Sobhan Auneem and Syed Ahmed Shawki, debuted on streaming services on December 18, 2020. Hindi and Bengali are the accessible languages. Another person said that Dayaa is a remake of the Hindi film Ek Villain and the Korean action movie I Saw the Devil.

Dayaa’s star, Chakravarthy, is quite excited to perform his part in this series. In a statement, the Satya actor added that it is not something that is thought about often. He continued by saying that he was not merely asked to participate in this narrative by the writer. He said that the story’s encouraging elements were what piqued his interest in this movie. Chakravarthi went on to say that a skilled director is the only one who can pull it off. “I am appreciative of having a complex and nuanced role like Dayaa at this significant moment in my career. When the show debuts on Disney+ Hotstar, I can’t wait to see how people respond to my character, he continued.

Along with Chakravarthy, Dayaa also stars Eesha Rebba, Ramya Nambeeshan, Mayank Parekh, and others in a superb ensemble.
