Ahsaas Channa, an actress, responds to a marriage bio by requesting “White Skin Color.”

Even when both parents and children make an effort to communicate, there is still a chasm between them because of the generational barrier that has been in society for many years. ‘Be a Parent, Yaar!’ is a new project launched by media entrepreneur and co-founder of Yuvaa, Nikhil Taneja, to address this issue and promote conversation.

Through discourse, the talk program aims to bridge the generational divide between parents and their offspring. Be a Parent, Yaar, a talk program that is a first of its type, aims to close the gap between parents and their children by exploring unusual topics via open dialogue. Actor and producer of digital content Ahsaas Channa and her mother, Kulbir Baderson, addressed the issue of bridging the generational gap on issues related to romantic relationships in the show’s first episode.

The mother-daughter pair spoke about certain marriages and men’s dating profiles on the show and responded to the same. Ahsaas was reading men’s profiles on marriage-oriented websites when she came across one that infuriated her. It included things like, “You should not drink or smoke; you should have white skin; you can get a job if you want.” The teenage actress yelled, “Fair-skinned?” expressing her ire at the expectations of having light skin and letting a lady work. Then get out of here and go to America. We don’t need permission to do a task, so why is he granting it?” Kubir, Ahsaas’ mother, approved of a marital profile for her daughter right away during the same discussion. The marital bio said, “My family is from the upper middle class.” My religious convictions, moral principles, and reverence for seniors are the most significant aspects of my existence. Talking about the same thing, Ahsaas said, “He’s a nice boy,” and Kulbir stated, “This is great; keep this one aside,” keeping the profile distinct from the others.

For those who do not know, Kulbir has been raising her two girls alone for the last 20 years. Ahsaas also spoke about her upbringing by a single mother, how it affected her understanding of love, and how she wished her mother might find love once again in the same episode. Ahsaas spoke candidly about her romantic relationships, her crushes, and her dream partner. Parent-child relationships are sometimes strained by disagreements and miscommunications stemming from the differences in values, attitudes, and actions across generations. ‘Be a Parent, Yaar!’, the newest chat program on Yuvaa, attempts to bridge this divide by urging parents and kids to have difficult talks, promote understanding, and deepen their relationship.

Starting this Mother’s Day week, five more pairs of parents and kids will be featured on the talk program, sparking conversations on a variety of issues related to the age divide. Every Wednesday, new episodes will be released on Yuvaa’s YouTube account.
