Ajay Devgn and Ravi Teja are in Lucknow to film a franchise

Ajay Devgn enthusiasts in the city can once again celebrate, as the actor is set to return to Lucknow to commence shooting for his upcoming project on February 12. Joining him on the set will be actors Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor. The trio is slated to film Raj Kumar Gupta’s ‘Raid 2,’ with Devgn reprising his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, unraveling another case of tax fraud on the big screen.

The inaugural film, ‘Raid’ (2018), was inspired by a real-life raid conducted by the Income Tax department officers on a Kanpur-based businessman-politician in the 1980s. This incident etched its place in history as the longest raid in India, spanning three days and two nights.

The sequel also draws inspiration from a true case of tax fraud, with Riteish Deshmukh portraying the antagonist and Vaani Kapoor as Devgn’s love interest. Interestingly, in Mumbai, the mahurat shot for Ajay Devgn’s venture was performed by south superstar Ravi Teja, who is reprising Devgn’s role in the Telugu version titled ‘Mr Bachchan: Naam Toh Suna Hoga.’ This film is scheduled for shooting in Lucknow from March, coinciding with Devgn’s work on the Hindi version’s sequel. Helmed by Harish Shankar, the film will be filmed at the Shivgarh Palace, the same location where the original film was shot in 2018.

Shankar, known for directing films such as ‘Gabbar Singh’ (2012) with Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Hassan (a remake of ‘Dabangg,’ 2009), and ‘Ramayya Vasthavayya’ (2013) with Jr NTR and Samantha, will be directing the upcoming project.
