Known as the “Shehenshah of Bollywood,” megastar Amitabh Bachchan is without a doubt one of the greatest performers Hindi film has ever seen. With roles in films like “Deewar,” “Zanjeer,” “Paa,” and “Pink,” Amitabh has made a number of memorable appearances. And now, according to Variety, a US-based media organization, a nine-film retrospective of Amitabh Bachchan will take place at the Festival des 3 Continents in Nantes, France.theindiaprint.com amitabh bachchan retrospective at the three continents festival in france oip 18 1

The retrospective, titled “Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever,” will highlight various facets of the actor’s career, such as his persona as the “angry young man,” which was developed by writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. The retrospective will also feature action, drama, comedy, and romance in some of the best Hindi-language films, such as “Sholay,” “Deewar,” “Don,” “Kabhie Kabhie,” and “Amar Akbar Anthony.” According to Variety, the filmmakers include legendary figures from Indian cinema such as Yash Chopra, Ramesh Sippy, Manmohan Desai, and Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

The presentation is co-presented by the non-profit Film Heritage Foundation, which was founded by archivist and filmmaker Shivendra Singh Dungarpur. The organization organized many very successful retrospectives in Indian theaters last year, such as “Dev Anand @ 100 – Forever Young,” “Dilip Kumar – Hero of Heroes,” and “Bachchan Back To The Beginning.”
“The Film Heritage Foundation’s initiative to bring classic Indian films back to the big screen in India has been truly remarkable,” Big B stated in reference to the retrospective. The news that the Festival des 3 Continents in Nantes, one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals, would be co-presenting a selection of nine of my early works makes me very happy, particularly as it highlights the cinema of Africa, Latin America, and Asia. I got to work with some of the most important directors of the era, such Yash Chopra, Ramesh Sippy, Manmohan Desai, and Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and play a variety of roles in several of these movies. It is my hope that the festival goers will take pleasure in the assortment of movies that have delighted audiences for over fifty years. Variety said, “I am thrilled that my daughter Shweta will be in Nantes to represent me at the festival, even though I won’t be there in person.”

“Abhimaan,” “Sholay,” “Deewar,” “Amar Akbar Anthony,” “Trishul,” “Don,” “Kaala Patthar,” and “Kabhie Kabhie” are among the Big B flicks that will be shown.

The Festival des 3 Continents will happen in Nantes, France, from November 24 to December 3.

“This is a special occasion for me as I have the opportunity, for the first time, to represent my father on an international platform,” Shweta Bachchan, Big B’s daughter, said. I express my gratitude to the Film Heritage Foundation for their outstanding dedication and proficiency in presenting vintage Indian films and attracting viewers back to theaters at a period when many doubted their viability. I saw the enormous success of “Bachchan Back to the Beginning,” the massively organized retrospective that was held in honor of my father’s 80th birthday, last year. We were all awestruck as several of us in the family were seeing his flicks for the first time on a large screen. Variety states that the films being exhibited in Nantes are a diverse range of genres that will allow festival goers to see my father’s extraordinary ability as an actor.

Amitabh will next be seen with Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in the science fiction action movie “Kalki 2898 AD.” It is scheduled to open in cinemas on January 12, 2024.
