Five Things About “Parasite” Actor Lee Sun-Kyun After His Death

At the age of 48, South Korean actor Lee Sun-Kyun, who starred in the Academy Award–winning movie “Parasite,” reportedly committed himself in downtown Seoul, according to AFP. After the actor left the house, his wife reported to the police that she had discovered what seemed to be a suicide note.

Here are the actor’s five points:
The Hollywood Reporter claims that the actor was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1975. He was a student at the National University of Arts in Korea. Mr. Lee gained notoriety for his role as the lead in “Coffee Prince” (2007) and for his work in the medical drama “White Tower” (2007).
In the 2010s, he appeared in a number of movies and television series and rose to fame. His television programs “Behind the White Tower,” “Pasta,” and “My Mister” (2010) all achieved great success.
In the 2019 film “Parasite,” which won an Oscar, Mr. Lee is most known for playing Park Dong-ik, the father of the affluent family that owns the house. He and the other members of the film’s cast were each given a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Police had been looking into Mr. Lee’s usage of marijuana and other psychotropic substances. The actor’s reputation suffered as a result of the probe, and the BBC reports that he was fired from the mystery TV show “No Way Out,” which had been filming since October.
His wife and two children survive him.
