‘Gentle’ Mother Sulochana Latkar’s Death is Lamented by Amitabh Bachchan: She had been ill for a while

Sulochana Latkar, who died away on June 3 at the age of 94, has been remembered as “another great of our Cinema World” by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh said on his blog that the seasoned actor has portrayed a loving and giving mother to him in a number of films.

“We have lost another great of our cinema world – Sulochana ji.. the gentle, generous, caring Mother that played in several films with me.. she had been ailing for some time.. and this afternoon she left for her heavenly abode,” Amitabh tweeted.

“I had been monitoring here condition with her family.. but finally the sad news!” he said.

In such forgiving conditions, we can only pray.

In films like “Reshma Aur Shera,” “Yaarana,” “Muqadddar Ka Sikander,” and “Roti Kapada Aur Makan,” to mention a few, Amitabh and Sulochana have appeared.

She made her cinema debut in 1946 and was born on July 30, 1928, in the Khadaklat village of Belagavi (now in Karnataka).

‘Bandini’ (1963), a timeless Bimal Roy film that is still remembered today, was one of her favourite Bollywood productions.
