Imtiaz Ali discusses the period in 2022 when there were uncertainties regarding Bollywood’s future

While he is busy promoting “Amar Singh Chamkila,” his next movie, Imtiaz Ali recently spoke about the period in 2022 when many were busy calling out Bollywood.

During an interview with DNA India, Imtiaz Ali thought back to the time when Bollywood was viewed with a great deal of suspicion. He remembered having heard many times that Bollywood was in decline. Ali had a similar outlook on the industry’s future when he noted that, when he first entered the field, there were forecasts that theaters would disappear because of VCRs.
Imtiaz further underlined that, in spite of constant declarations of cinema’s extinction, it persisted because dreamers like himself kept making and seeing movies.

The actor Imtiaz Ali, well known for movies like “Jab We Met,” “Love Aaj Kal,” “Rockstar,” and “Tamasha,” will be releasing his most recent film, “Amar Singh Chamkila,” exclusively on Netflix rather than in theaters. “Even though I envision my films for the big screen, I’ve made ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ more cinematic to suit its OTT release,” he said in response to a query about this choice.

He went on to say that he usually chooses movies with strong cinematic elements to watch on over-the-top (OTT) services. So he wanted to make sure that ‘Chamkila’ had the same quality.
Released on April 12, 2024, Amar Singh Chamkila stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the major roles.
