Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson's nephew, will portray him in the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic

The 26-year-old nephew of the late legend, Jaafar Jackson, will portray the late King of Pop Michael Jackson in the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic.

Fuqua just confirmed something on Instagram. The musician is descended from Jermaine Jackson, a member of The Jackson 5 and Michael's brother. According to Deadline, Jaafar has been singing and dancing since he was 12 years old. He has performed original songs as well as songs by Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye.

The director of Emancipation has signed on to helm Michael, which was written by John Logan. Graham King, who transformed the Freddie Mercury Queen narrative into the box office smash "Bohemian Rhapsody," is producing the movie.

According to "Deadline," the movie won't avoid Jackson's controversy-filled life, including the pedophilia allegations that plagued him in his latter years and led to his death in 2009 at age 50 from a cardiac arrest brought on by a combination of sedatives.

The Jackson estate's presence grants rights to Jackson's musical catalog, but some have questioned how protective they will be. Nevertheless, it is obvious that certain issues must be investigated for the movie to have a dramatic edge and enough veracity to withstand scrutiny without alienating fans of Jackson's songs and musical legacy.

In their earlier collaboration with Martin Scorsese on "The Aviator," written by King and Oscar-nominated Gladiator screenwriter Logan, Leonardo Di Caprio played Howard Hughes as he struggled to pursue his discoveries until mental illness turned him into a germ-phobic hermit.

Anthony McCarten, the writer of "King," and the complexity of Freddie Mercury's life before his AIDS-related death.

Michael will be inspired by Jackson's musical achievements as well, giving the movie global potential akin to that of "Bohemian Rhapsody," which made over $900 million worldwide, helped Queen's song library, earned a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars, and won for actor Rami Malek.

Together with Denzel Washington, Fuqua is presently completing "The Equalizer 3" in Italy.
