On Tuesday, Kangana Ranaut posted an old interview with Lata Mangeshkar on Instagram, claiming that the renowned singer and her had several hit songs together. They never did play weddings, however.
The actress appears to be making fun of famous people who performed at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities with her anecdote. She posted a screen grab of a news story with a quotation from Lata Mangeshkar in the title.
“Even if you give me $5 million, I won’t come,” the woman wrote, referring to Lata Mangeshkar’s refusal to perform at the wedding. Even though Lata ji and I are the only ones with huge success songs to our credit (Fashion Ka Jalwa, Ghani Baawli Ho Gayi, London Thumkda, Sadi Salli, Vijay Bhawa, etc.), I have had severe financial disasters.”
She went on, “But no matter how many temptations I faced, I never danced at weddings. I was also given a lot of very popular item songs, but I quickly avoided award presentations as well. The next generation has to learn that in a world of shortcuts, the only riches that can be attained is the wealth of integrity. It takes great character and dignity to say no to fame and money.”
