Kiran Rao acknowledges that she makes full advantage of Aamir Khan’s celebrity whenever possible: “I use him without shame.”

Filmmaker Kiran Rao is getting ready for her next movie, Laapataa Ladies, to the theaters. Aamir Khan has been a rock for Kiran during the movie’s promotional events, using his notoriety to increase the film’s awareness.
Kiran discussed how Aamir Khan’s celebrity has helped Laapataa Ladies get notice in an interview with Bollywood Bubble.

Without a doubt, she said. He gives me star power, which I exploit to the fullest. I’m like, “Hey, come on over here and take three pictures for us.” We are working on a tiny film, and I really need to spread the word to people about it because on March 1st, Aamir Khan will be in it. I use him without hesitation.”

In the middle of her promotions, Kiran recently attended Aamir’s daughter Ira Khan’s wedding, where she stood elegantly with his ex-wife Reena Dutta for the ideal family photo.
In retrospect, Kiran said of their unusual family relations, “I guess we didn’t try very hard for it.” It’s a really organic “We are family” phenomenon. Simply said, we don’t give it much thought. That’s just the way things are. We are this. People may find this weird, but our closeness has never changed and it always will. We don’t believe that a social label of any kind characterizes our true connections.”
Kiran had previously disclosed to DNA that she and Aamir have been working on their divorce since they don’t want their son Azad Rao to experience the effects of their divorce.
