Lead guitarist David Gilmour’s Performance By Pink Floyd In Pompeii Ruins Marks Six Years

David Gilmour, lead guitarist of the legendary progressive rock band Pink Floyd and a guitar legend, performed with his band at the Pompeii ruins in 2017 as part of his live album “Live at Pompeii.”

Pink Floyd used social media to commemorate that concert, which has been going on for six years.

Pink Floyd posted photos of Gilmour’s ‘Live at Pompeii’ CD with the following statement: “It has been six years since David Gilmour and his band performed two magnificent nights straight at Pompeii, amid the ancient ruins. ‘Live at Pompeii’ is a recording of the performances that were held at the historic amphitheater. Did any of you have the good fortune to attend either night?

There were several Pink Floyd classics on the album, including “High Hopes,” “Time,” “Great Gig in the Sky,” “Money,” “Comfortably Numb,” and “Shine On You Crazy Diamond.”

It also included a number of Gilmour’s solo compositions, including “Rattle That Lock” and “Faces of Stone,” as well as some lesser-known Pink Floyd songs, such “Sorrow.”

David Gilmour was a key member of Pink Floyd and is regarded as a guitar icon. He is known for his more artistic, leisurely, trippy, and lyrical playing style, which many musicians refer to as “feel.” Numerous rock and metal guitarists have been influenced by Gilmour’s playing style.

Along with groups like King Crimson, Rush, Genesis, and Hawkwind, Pink Floyd is regarded as one of the forerunners of progressive rock because of its creative, psychedelic, and mellow sound. Pink Floyd is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, with more than 250 million albums sold worldwide.
