Meet the highest-paid actress of the 1960s who was driven into prostitution, declared bankrupt, and ultimately passed away in poverty as a result of

Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and others have opulent lives, which is evidence of the widely held belief that life in the industry is easy once one breaks into the big time. But there was a period when individuals lost their wealth and fame almost as quickly as they acquired it. One such actress rose to fame with her first motion picture and then faded into obscurity.

The actress in question rose to fame after making her stage debut at the age of 25. But after her breakthrough, most of her movies were box office bombs, and she was soon reduced to playing supporting parts. She is, of course, Vimi.

Vimi was found by music director Ravi at a party in the mid-1960s, and she quickly made her Bollywood debut in Hamraaz with Sunil Dutt. After the movie’s critical and economic success, Vimi was cast in movies with Ashok Kumar in Abroo and Shashi Kapoor in Patanga. She dated movie stars and briefly rose to the top of the pay scale for young actors.

But once Humraaz failed, the actress was only able to play cameos and supporting parts in most of her movies. She also divorced her industrialist son Shiv Agarwal by the middle of the 1970s, and it was subsequently discovered that she had been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her spouse.

She fell in love with a producer called Jolly following her breakup, however. A News18 article claims that the actress was forced into prostitution by the producer. The actress chose to launch her own company after managing to get out of the unhealthy relationship. Unfortunately, her Calcutta textile firm collapsed and her obligations were settled with the proceeds. As a result, in her early 30s, she became impoverished and turned to drink, which ultimately led to her death.

Vimi died at the early age of 34 from issues related to her life. She was by herself when she passed away, and if accounts are to be trusted, her remains were transported to be cremated on a chanawalla’s cart. The actress passed away alone and in poverty despite her success and notoriety.
