New-Gen Stars Feel “Insecure,” Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty Tell Karan Johar “They Take 3 Years To Decide If…”

Longtime friends and coworkers Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty visited the Koffee Couch for the most recent episode of Karan Johar’s well-liked discussion program Koffee with Karan 8. For more than 20 years, Ajay and Rohit have been buddies. They said that while the Bollywood business was formerly quite close-knit, the current generation of filmmakers is insecure and tends to overthink everything.

What is your opinion of the actors in the younger generation, Rohit and Ajay were questioned by Karan Johar. Do you believe they still have the will to fight? “I think they need too much validation from people they don’t know on social media or too much insecurity,” Rohit said. They seem so insecure to me; I’m not sure why, but maybe it’s just because they were raised in this generation.

When Karan questioned the two about whether the younger performers overthink things, they both nodded in agreement. “How easily y’all did two three hero films,” Karan said. I don’t think that will occur right now. They don’t seem to have the stability to produce two or three hero movies. Ajay said, “I don’t think they have the security of doing solos also,” in response. They take three years to determine which course of action is required.

“I love that when you go to Ajay or Shah Rukh, Salman, and Akshay, after a point—I mean, I’m not saying that this is sacrosanct—they will say mujhe 20 minutes mein kahaani bata do and after 20 minutes they understand the world of the film because they have an understanding, today you go to these younger actors,” Karan subsequently remarked.

“I’m not saying they’re incorrect; rather, it seems like they want to insert themselves into every conversation, scenario, and detail, and then they take too long to respond, leaving you waiting. You get that reaction right away when working with performers from the elder generation, he said.
