Pankaj Tripathi discusses how Animal and Kadak Singh convey the same feeling in various ways: “Nearly the South and North Poles”

The tumultuous relationship between a father and daughter, portrayed by Pankaj and Sanjana Sanghi, is the subject of the new movie Kadak Singh. It should be noted that a week before its premiere, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, was released. The film explores a tumultuous connection between a father and son. Pankaj on Kadak Singh and Animal
Speaking on the current distinctive variety in Indian film, Pankaj remarks, “It didn’t exist earlier.” With the introduction of OTT, the movie industry’s reach has expanded. None of this could have been accomplished sooner. While discussing the same connection (as Animal), Kadak Singh does it in a very different way—almost like a North-South Pole. There is a market for both.

The National Award winner claims that the rise of OTT and the need for diverse material have altered the movie industry’s environment. “We can now produce a movie similar to Kadak Singh. Not even ten years ago was it feasible? Ten years ago, OMG 2 was not feasible. It would be impossible to consider talking about sex and sex education in a movie. I would hear someone ask, “Ye kya hai?” (What is this?). Still, we’re doing it right now. Thus, the time has changed,” he remarks.

Pankaj on the character actor’s ascent
The fact that “character artists” are becoming famous these days is another development. Pankaj belongs to a new breed of performers who, in spite of not being the typical hero, are nevertheless well-known and respected for their work.

“I never imagined there would be memes on me,” he adds. Memes weren’t even a thing back then, of course, but I never imagined that I would be mimicked by others in my lifetime. Currently, five or six individuals are involved. A few of them I have met. I told them it was fine because you are making money by imitating me, and I came to Mumbai to make money.

Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s thriller Kadak Singh also features Jaya Ahsan, Parvathy Thrivothu, and Paresh Pahuja. It’s a whodunit mixed with vintage family drama.
