Prequel Legally Blonde Will Highlight Elle Woods’ High School Years

Because of her performance as Elle Woods in the classic movie Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon rose to fame. In 2001, the actress made her screen debut as Elle Woods, and in 2003, she came back for a follow-up. Fans are eagerly awaiting a spinoff from the series, which is in the works after more than 20 years. The first major Amazon MGM picture to be turned into a Prime Video television series is Legally Blonde. The prequel Elle, which is presumably about the character Elle Woods’ high school years, is being planned by the filmmakers.

According to Deadline, Reese Witherspoon, who plays the lead in the film series, is developing the movie under her Hello Sunshine label. The declaration allegedly came during Prime Video’s first upfront presentation. The article also reveals that Laura Kittrell’s television series Elle would trace Elle Woods’s high school journey, exposing the events in her life that shaped the iconic young lady in the Legally Blonde movie. Years before the events of the first movie, which opens with Elle Woods graduating from college and going to Harvard to pursue a legal career, the series takes place.

Reese Witherspoon told Deadline, “I really couldn’t be more excited about this series!” in reference to the spinoff. Fans will see how our darling Elle Woods used her unique personality and resourcefulness to navigate her adolescent environment in ways that are only possible with her. Is there anything more ideal than that?

The actress expressed her gratitude to the Hello Sunshine and Prime Video teams, as well as writer Laura Kittrell, for their conceptualization of this. Vernon Sanders, the president of television at Amazon MGM Studios, provided further insight on the project when he told the outlet that Elle Woods is “one of the most quotable, iconic, and beloved characters that is ingrained in the fabric of Hollywood history.” He continued by saying that it was an honor to revive this well-known tale.

The 2001 movie Legally Blonde was written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, and it was based on Amanda Brown’s book of the same name. Reese Witherspoon gained notoriety as an actress and the movie turned into a cult classic. Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, the sequel, was released in 2003. Legally Blondes, a direct-to-video spinoff, was released in 2009.
