Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake video complaint is filed with the Delhi police

In relation to a deepfake AI-generated video of actress Rashmika Mandana, the Delhi Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Special Cell police station on Friday, the police said.

The Delhi Police has filed a formal complaint under the applicable laws, and they have conducted an inquiry.

“An FIR under sections 465 and 469 of the IPC, 1860 and sections 66C and 66E of the IT Act, 2000 has been lodged at PS Special Cell, Delhi Police, and an inquiry has been started up,” the Delhi Police said in reference to the deepfake AI-generated video of Rashmika Mandana.

According to an official statement, the Delhi Commission for Women also requested action earlier in the day in response to several media reports of a deepfake video of actress Rashmika Mandana that went viral on social media.

In response to media allegations that a deepfake video featuring Indian actress Rashmika Mandana is making the rounds on various social media platforms, the Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo-moto notice. According to the statement, the actress has reportedly voiced her worries about the situation and claimed that someone has unlawfully altered her image in the video.

The Commission also observed that no arrests have been made in the case as of yet and requested a copy of the FIR including the accused parties’ information by November 17.

The Commission has been informed that no arrests have been made in relation to this issue as of yet. This is a really important issue. In light of the aforementioned, kindly provide a copy of the formal complaint filed in the case, specifics on the accused who was detained, and a comprehensive report detailing the actions taken in the case, according to the DCW statement.

It also said, “Given the seriousness of the situation, kindly supply the requested information to the Commission by November 17.”
