Richard Lewis, a comedian, passes away aged 76

Richard Lewis, an actor and comedian, has away. He was seventy-six. The performer passed away “peacefully” at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday night after a heart attack, according to his spokesman Jeff Abraham. Lewis said he had Parkinson’s disease in April 2023.

Lewis, dubbed “a comic’s comic,” first appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1974. He gained notoriety in the late-night comedy circuit quite rapidly.

Lewis has portrayed himself on television for many years as his buddy Larry David’s opposite on Curb Your Enthusiasm. During a recent episode of the show, he made a joke about which of them looked worse.

Lewis’s career began with television specials in the 1980s, and he soon moved into acting. He played Prince John in Mel Brooks’ comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights, starred in the sitcom Anything but Love, and had his dramatic debut as a struggling alcoholic in the 1995 film Drunks.
