Sarah Jessica Parker, an actress, had planned to keep Samantha’s reappearance a secret from the fans, but things didn’t work out that way.
The 58-year-old “Sex and the City” veteran said she was upset that information about Kim Cattrall’s cameo on the revival of the series, “And Just Like That,” had been leaked during an interview on Sirius XM’s “Radio Andy,” according to People magazine.
Parker said that she was “could not have been more upset” that the surprise disclosure was made public.
The actress said that it was a “big bummer” since Cattrall, 66, would have sparked “fireworks” among devoted “Sex and the City” viewers.
Additionally, we want to ensure that expectations are realistic, she said.
It’s a pleasant little interaction. It expresses everything about their connection and other non-public information.
Parker remarked that although though Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones’ respective characters “talk all the time,” Cattrall’s debut “comes at a significant moment in the series.”
According to People, Cattrall made waves earlier this month when she announced that she will be repeating her famous role in HBO’s “And Just Like That.”
This week, the actress discussed the circumstances behind her much awaited appearance on “The View.”
The HBO president phoned and said, “What can we do?,” which prompted her response, “Hmm, let me get creative,” she recounted.
And one of those things was to bring Pat Field back because I just believed that if I was going to return, I had to do it in true Samantha fashion. I had to force it. We also did.
Variety reports that Cattrall shot her scene in New York City on March 22 “without seeing or speaking with the stars of the series,” including Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and series creator Michael Patrick King.
After considerable public conflict between Parker and Cattrall, who had previously expressed her reluctance in being a part of future SATC episodes, and 25 years after the show’s HBO debut, Samantha is reintroduced.
