The Atrocities Act comments made by Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale have resulted in her being charged with a felony

According to police reports, Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale is being sued for allegedly offending people with comments he made against the alleged abuse of the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act). According to reports, Chitale pushed for an investigation into the cases filed under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act over the previous five years in order to verify the veracity of such claims at the ‘Brahmin Ekya Parishad’ conference on February 25 at Parli in Maharashtra’s Beed district.

She allegedly said that because bogus complaints filed under the Atrocities Act are allegedly becoming a racket, information should be obtained under the Right to Information Act. “Information should be obtained under the Right to Information Act as filing false cases under the Atrocities Act has become a racket,” she reportedly said.

According to a police officer, Premnath Jagatkar, a local, filed a complaint at the Parli city police station after the speech was published online. Under Indian Penal Code sections 295-A (hurting religious emotions) and 505 (2) (statements inciting animosity between classes), a FIR was filed against Chitale and the conference organizer, Bajirao Dharmadhikari, on Thursday. In relation to the matter, no one has been taken into custody.

Chitale was earlier arrested in 2022 for allegedly using social media to convey disparaging remarks against NCP chairman Sharad Pawar. After that, she was freed on bond.
