The proprietor of “Popcorn & Company” hushes Peyush Bansal, while Anupam Mittal remarks, “seat ki izzat hoti hai.”

There was a lot of excitement in the most recent episode of “Shark Tank India 3” when the gourmet popcorn business “Popcorn & Company” and shark Namita Thapar closed a big deal for Rs 75 lakh.

But when the pitcher quieted shark Peyush Bansal, things became intense, and Anupam Mittal looked obviously irritated.

“Popcorns sold in 99 percent of the multiplexes use our machines, seeds, and spices,” founder Vikas Suri said at the beginning of his presentation. “Munna Bhai requires Circuit to be complete.” In a similar vein, viewing a movie without popcorn is an incomplete experience. A movie wouldn’t be the same without popcorn. Salty popcorn was marketed in little packages when “Sholay” was first produced fifty years ago. And popcorn was still served in theaters when movies like “Jawan” and “Pathaan” were launched.

Take caramel popcorn, cheesey Sriracha, and butter salted popcorn, for example. But people don’t just see movies in theaters these days. At home, they also watch movies on OTT. I thus made the decision to provide folks the popcorn experience at home. ‘Popcorn & Company’ was thus founded. He said, “‘Popcorn & Company’ provides both ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook popcorn.”

He requested Rs 75 lakh in exchange for 7.5% equity.

Namita, the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd., said, “My family and I frequently visit theaters.” We are all craving popcorn. My kids are usually partial to the one with caramel flavor. My spouse and I both like the butter-salted popcorn. We want the same experience at home, as you correctly pointed out. Both your business and your merchandise are excellent.

Namita said, “When did you begin your journey?”

In response, Vikas said, “My journey started in 2019.” I was a US resident once. I started a business named Kitchenrama in 1996 after moving back to India, where I created eateries, food courts, hotels, and catering services. Additionally, I gave them some equipment.

“I used to work for a comparable firm named Gold Medal while I was employed in the US. When I worked there, I used to ship popcorn to every country in the globe. That was the beginning of the association as a whole,” said Vikas.

In addition, the creator is the owner of “Kitchenrama,” a company that supplies other companies with machinery, popcorn kernels, and spice blends.

Vikas then gave the popcorn treatment to the Sharks.

Anupam, the CEO and founder of Shaadi.com, said, “Boss, that strawberry popcorn is really amazing.” In general, I believe that some foods, like popcorn and coffee, shouldn’t be flavorful. However, the flavor is rather good. It’s more appropriate for Valentine’s Day in a pair.

“We make tremendous sales on Valentine’s Day,” Vikas retorted.

Namita proceeded to present the founder with two demands: first, there would be no further opening of company-owned or franchised QSR kiosks; and second, the main emphasis would be on seasonings.

Co-Founder and CMO of boAt Aman Gupta said, “It’s a good idea to get a better understanding of both your numbers and your competitors.” For me, it’s an expensive category, and it’s not my USP. I’m leaving now.

Peyush, the CEO and co-founder of Lenskart.com, said, “Isn’t the popcorn industry dominated by a kiosk chain? The retail market has the true margin, which surprises me. Its production costs are less Rs 20. I’m assuming that this is a firm with a 90% margin. Your gross profit should be Rs 5 lakh if your sales are worth Rs 6 lakh.

Assume I pay salary of Rs 1 lakh out of Rs 5 lakh. Actually, I may be able to turn a 30% profit on a kiosk. The price to set it up… It’s not difficult, Peyush said.

At that moment, the creator Vikas shocked everyone by saying, “Shhhhhh..” to Peyush.

SUGAR Cosmetics’ co-founder and CEO, Vineeta Singh, said, “No! No! No!” You made him feel uncomfortable by shushing him.

Was that what he said, Anupam asked.

“Were you a teacher or in the army before?” Vineeta questioned Vikas.

After losing his temper, Anupam said, “Sir, why are you here? It’s you, Vikas Suri. the person with all knowledge. We’ve spent the last three years here. Are you aware of this? Are you aware of our work? Here, you suddenly shook a shark.

Peyush reassured him. He is older than I am.

“It’s not about age,” Anupam said, “Umar ki baat nahi hai, seat ki izzat hoti hai.” Position is important).

“I’m sorry if I hurt you, but I didn’t really say that,” said Vikas in his apology.

With that, Anupam added, “You know what we do.” Due to our expertise, we make financial investments and provide guidance. We let certain doors open. We support the expansion of your company in the fast commerce market. We also learn at the same time. I think you lack humility and learning agility after meeting you. How are we going to create a company together?

Anupam said, “Besides all the personal difficulties I brought before, one major reason I’m leaving is because of your complicated company structure, Suri.

Finally, the owner and Shark Namita reached a conditional agreement for Rs 75 lakh, which included 15% equity and 3% royalty payments until the whole amount of Rs 75 lakh was recovered.
