The release of Shivarajkumar-Narthan’s bilingual film Bhairathi Ranagal is scheduled for Independence Day

The much-anticipated Bhairathi Ranagal, the prequel to the 2017 Kannada hit Mufti, has at last been given a release date. On July 4th, the movie is slated to open on huge screens. This production, which is highly anticipated by viewers in several languages, is going up against other big releases, including the Hindi movie Singham Again and the Allu Arjun feature Pushpa: The Rule.

The movie’s producer, Geetha Shivarajkumar, who is supporting it under the Geetha Pictures label, announced the release date. In the face of fierce competition, Shivanna explained the rationale for the release date, saying, “Like other filmmakers, we also sought for public holidays that are followed by a long weekend. We thought this was the ideal date since people congregate in big numbers to see movies during the long weekends.” In addition, he thanked Narthan for creating a character as interesting as Bhairathi Ranagal, recalling his first reluctance to accept a major part in Mufti and applauding the character’s development in the prequel.

Director Narthan said that he was inspired to do Bhairathi Ranagal by Shivarajkumar and his admirers. “The character design and Shivanna’s portrayal of Bhairathi Ranagal connected well with the audience when we did Mufti with Sriimurali in the lead,” he says. “Bhairathi Ranagal was born out of the desire for more of the character,” the director said, adding that 70% of the filming had already been finished. With the statement, “Shivanna’s portrayal will have shades of both good and bad, catering to the preferences of his diverse fanbase,” Narthan hinted to Shivarajkumar’s complex character in the movie.

The film has an amazing cast and team, including professionals from Mufti like music director Ravi Basrur and cinematographer Naveen Kumar. It was filmed in many locations, including Bengaluru, Bellary, Anantapura, and Mysuru. The stunts have been done by Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan DSouza. Rukmini Vasanth portrays the female protagonist, Rahul Bose the antagonist, and veteran actors Avinash and Devaraj complete the ensemble cast. In addition, Bhairathi Ranagal will have significant cameos by Mufti characters like Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Babu Hirannayya, Madhu Guruswamy, and Chaya Singh.
