The much anticipated trailer for Prime Video’s newest new-age horror Original series, “The Village,” was released on Friday, Nov. 17. The graphic horror novel of the same name by Asvin Srivatsangam, Vivek Rangachari, and Shamik Dasgupta, which was first published by Yali Dream Works, served as the inspiration for the television series. It tells a fast-moving, action-packed tale that transports viewers to the remote villages of Kattiyal in Tamil Nadu, where Gautham and his family come across a living nightmare of horror they could never have imagined.
The series is a Studio Shakthi production, written and produced by Milind Rau, with co-writers Deeraj Vaidy and Deepthi Govindarajan. It is produced by BS Radhakrishnan. Prominent Tamil actor Arya plays the protagonist in the series, with Divya Pillai, Aazhiya, Aadukalam Naren, George Mayan, PN Sunny, Muthukumar K, Kalairaani SS, John Kokken, Pooja, V Jayaprakash, Arjun Chidambaram, and Thalaivasal Vijay forming a talented ensemble cast.
On November 24, the Tamil-language series—which has been dubbed into Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi—will debut exclusively on Prime Video in India and over 240 other countries and territories globally. English subtitles will be provided.
A family of three who are excited to go on a road vacation is introduced to viewers in the series teaser. But the fun quickly turns deadly as a startling montage presents a horrifying community overrun by horrible creatures, where death seems to be arbitrary. Arya portrays Gautham, who teams up with three villagers to save his wife and daughter from these monster captors.
Then, when a gang of mercenaries are spotted in the town, collecting something long forgotten, the video takes a terrifying turn. The narrative, which is pulsating with a sense of dread and fear, sends readers on a spine-tingling journey through an abandoned hamlet, a scary forest, and terrifying tunnels.
Will Gautham be able to rescue his family and survive the terrifying village? In addition to making viewers bite their nails in fear, the series’ thrilling, goosebumps-inducing teaser heightens their excitement for when it debuts on Prime Video on November 24.
“I am excited that my original streaming debut begins with the horror genre and that too with a series like ‘The Village’,” Arya, the actress, remarked. “I think it might be difficult for any actor to show off their acting prowess and expertise in the horror genre. ‘The Village’ is a tremendously intriguing film since it’s not your typical horror film about ghosts and malevolent spirits; instead, it’s more modern and heavily influences sci-fi and fantasy.
With subtle horror aspects and a profound message about how our acts, motivated by the drive for personal wealth, may have disastrous effects that affect not just a few but a whole community or civilization, director Milind Rau has executed his idea in the most magnificent way. I’m certain that the global and Indian audiences will thoroughly appreciate this cutting-edge horror that Prime Video is scheduled to release on November 24.”
