When Govinda costarred with Amitabh Bachchan in this smash hit movie, saving his collapsing career

Bollywood’s most successful actor is Amitabh Bachchan. With roles in films such as Deewar, Zanzeer, Hum, and Sholay, he rose to fame in Bollywood. At now, Amitabh Bachchan is eighty-one years old. In addition to being a prominent quiz show presenter, he is now involved in a number of films. Did you know that until Govinda rescued him, the actor had a string of box office failures? In the 1990s, Govinda rose to fame and was regarded as Bollywood’s hit machine. At the time, the actor was the first choice of several renowned filmmakers and producers. Govinda was also credited for assisting other Bollywood stars to save their careers. His collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan in the 1998 film Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan is credited with turning around Big B’s failing career.

Before Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan were released, Amitabh Bachchan was having a difficult time in the Bollywood industry. He produced back-to-back financially unsuccessful movies, including Major Saab and Mrityudata. In addition to performing, he tried his hand at producing work, which did not work out either. Disappointed at the moment, he also took a temporary break from watching movies. The crowd rejected Amitabh Bachchan’s comeback flick Mrityudaata when he returned to the cinema after a five-year hiatus.

Media sources claim that Big B was recommended by filmmaker David Dhawan to collaborate with Govinda on a film. The pair collaborated in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, a box office smash hit. David Dhawan served as the director.

The film went on to become 1998’s top earning film. Ramya Krishnan and Raveena Tandon were the movie’s lead heroines, while Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan played the main parts. The movie is regarded as one of Bollywood’s greatest comedies. Both the public and the reviewers were impressed by the main actors’ chemistry.
