When Shah Rukh Khan and Shreyas Talpade arrived to Om Shanti Om Sets, Farah Khan lost her cool and said, “Read the damn script.”

The 2007 drama Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is still regarded as one of the best movies ever made. Shreyas Talpade appeared in the Farah Khan-directed movie as well. SRK was a “witty” guy, according to Shreyas, who recalls working with him in a recent interview. He also remembered how their improvisations had previously irritated Farah on a shoot.

In a recent conversation with Lehren, Shreyas Talpade remembered, “Farah thought of casting me for Om Shanti Om as Pappu Master after she saw me in Dor. I was very anxious from the start about working with Shah Rukh Khan and wondering how he would react since I attend to a school where we do a lot of improvisation. I thus had a lot of improvised ideas, but I also worried about Shah’s possible reaction to the whole event.

After a few hours, I told him that I would be unhappy during the shoot if I didn’t go talk with him and tell him what I had in mind, regardless of his thoughts. When I chatted with him, he was ecstatic with everything. The actor said, “And of course, he is so clever himself, he came up with ten things.”

But after a while, Farah Khan became irritated with SRK and Shreyas’ improvisations, and the director lost her patience with the two performers. She instructed them to read “the damn script” instead of continuing with their improvisations.

“During the day, we continued improvising and having fun, and that chemistry developed to the point where, I recall, in the evening, we were filming a scene when Farah finally arrived and told us to just say the lines that were written in the damn script.'” Shreyas said.

Om Shanti Om was Deepika Padukone’s feature film debut as well. Arjun Rampal and Kirron Kher had significant parts in the movie as well. The plot was a young actor (SRK) who fell in love with a well-known actress, Shantipriya (Deepak Chopra), but he was slain while attempting to rescue her. But he reincarnates to get revenge on the murders.

In 2022, the film was re-released in theaters across 20 cities in the nation, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad, in honor of Om Shanti Om’s 15th anniversary. Om Shanti Om’s re-release was allegedly inspired by SRK Universe, one of Shah Rukh Khan’s fan organizations.
