Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been living apart for seven years

Jada Pinkett Smith, an actress, has said that she and Will Smith have been discreetly apart for the last seven years.

The 52-year-old actor of “Set It Off” and “Girls Trip,” who wed in 1997, said in an interview with “People” magazine that he and his wife are still “figuring out” what the future of their union would entail.

Jaden, Willow, and Will’s son Trey, whom he had with his former wife Sheree Zampino, are all shared by the pair.

When Will Smith, 55, notoriously attacked comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars in 2022 after the latter made a joke about his wife’s bald haircut, Jada acknowledged the couple were really living apart at the time. Jada experiences alopecia.

She said that no final choices on the course of her marriage had been made.

“We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together,” she said.

“We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like.”

She thanked her kids, Jaden, 25, Willow, 22, and Trey, 30, for supporting her through this difficult period in her marriage.

“My kids are like tiny gurus. They have helped me develop a strong feeling of self-acceptance, she said.

They adore me completely. The degree of unwavering affection they have for their father and I.

Jada shares what it was like to have Chris Rock make fun of her alopecia and then have her husband Will Smith smack Chris on live television in the chapter of her new book “Worthy” titled “The Holy Joke, the Holy Slap, and Holy Lessons.” On October 17, the book ‘Worthy’ will be published.

Additionally, Jada states in the book that Chris had made fun of her at the Oscars twice before, the first time being in 2016.

When Chris remarked that Jada’s bald head made her seem like “G.I. Jane” at the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith notoriously smacked Chris. This was only days after Jada announced she had alopecia.

Will Smith rushed the stage after becoming incensed by the jab and started slapping Chris for the joke.

The blow came just before he won Best Actor for his depiction of the loving father of tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams in the movie “King Richard.”

A tearful Smith acknowledged that “love makes you do crazy things” in a meandering acceptance speech, according to the Daily Mail, but he did not apologize to Chris for the smack.

In a shocking tell-all confessional in July 2020, Jada acknowledged having an affair with 31-year-old singer August Alsina while still married to Will.

Jada’s interview with “People” comes as she continues her book marketing tour, during which she has opened up about a variety of challenging subjects, including her struggle with “depression” and “despair,” which started when she reached 40.
