Only MM Keeravani and Chandra Bose, who were nominated for the Oscars 2023, were said to be entitled for a complimentary admission to the event, which took place on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles (March 13 in India). To witness the ceremony live, the rest of the RRR crew, including director SS Rajamouli, stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, and their families, had to purchase tickets.

Recently, RRR's Naatu Naatu took home the Best Original Song Oscar. To experience the historic occasion firsthand, SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, and Jr. NTR attended the distinguished ceremony with their families. Now, according to a source, Rajamouli bought tickets for the Oscars for himself, the rest of the RRR crew, and their families.

The Economic Times reported that a single Oscar 2023 ticket cost $25,000, or around 20.6 Lakhs. According to the source, only the prize recipients and their families qualified for a free entry, and everyone else had to purchase a ticket in order to see the live broadcast of the ceremony.

Although many people were shocked that Rajamouli and others were denied free admission to the Oscars, several fans were angry that the RRR crew was granted the final row in the auditorium. MM Keeravani and Chandra Bose were sat in front with the other Oscar contenders in footage that became widely known following Naatu Naatu's Oscar victory, whereas RRR director SS Rajamouli and his crew were sitting in the last row. A spectator questioned, "Why were they seated in the back? Another said on a post from The Hollywood Reporter, "It's a travesty why rrr team is seated in the back.

Together with his wife Rama, son SS Kartikeya, and other family members, SS Rajamouli was present. Although Junior NTR attended the function alone, Ram Charan was joined by his wife Upasana Kamineni.

The Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu's original music video starred Junior NTR and Ram Charan. A portion of the internet had expressed its displeasure over the absence of Indian participation during the Naatu Naatu Oscar performance since none of the dancers that performed with Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj Indians.
