10 Nepali students were lost in Israeli assaults by Hamas

Following a surge of rocket assaults by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas in Nepal’s southern area, ten Nepali students have been murdered and four others wounded in Israel, according to the country’s foreign ministry.

On Saturday, Hamas launched a series of airstrikes into Southern Israel, killing over 600 people—including soldiers—and injuring over 1,900 others.

In retaliation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted many assaults against Hamas’ crucial infrastructure. The worst escalation in violence between Israel and Gaza in decades has resulted in almost 1,000 deaths on both sides.

The foreign ministry of this country announced through press release that the recent Hamas incident in Israel claimed the lives of 10 Nepali people.

Two of the 17 Nepalese nationals employed on a farm in Kibbutz Alumim, a community close to the Gaza Strip, managed to escape safely, four others sustained injuries, and one remains missing, it claimed.

The Nepali embassy in Jerusalem issued a statement saying, “We have received information of the sad demise of ten Nepali nationals from the site, where the Hamas had launched an attack.”

According to government officials, all 10 of the victims of the Hamas assault were agricultural students at Sudur Paschim University in Western Nepal.

Currently, 4,500 Nepalese citizens are employed as caretakers in Israel. As part of the Israeli government’s “Learn and Earn” initiative, 265 Nepali students are now enrolled in academic programs there. There are 49 from Sudur Paschim University, 119 from Tribhuvan University, and 97 from Agriculture and Forestry University. They are all agricultural students enrolled in bachelor’s programs.

“We are looking for the victims of the event. There are efforts being made to find one missing pupil. As soon as the identification process is through, the corpses will be returned to Nepal, the embassy stated.

The Nepali government has also asked the Israeli government to make the required preparations for the wounded individuals who are receiving medical care.

The ministry said it was working along with the Israeli government and the Israeli embassy in Tel Aviv to repatriate those citizens who want to do so.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said that “Nepal government is committed to evacuating its nationals from the war-torn region at the earliest opportunity.”

“A meeting of the coordination mechanism formed under the leadership of Foreign Minister N P Saud is underway at the ministry to take stock of the situation in Israel, to identify Nepalese nationals, and to make efforts for rescue Nepalese nationals if necessary,” read a statement released by the secretariat of Foreign Minister Saud.

The Kathmandu Post daily said that the leader of the major opposition in Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has also been tasked with contacting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on behalf of the Nepalis.

“Making announcements and updating the House are insufficient. In this moment of difficulty, the government must act as the protector of its people, Padam Giri, the UML top whip, said in Parliament.

According to the government-run Gorkhapatra newspaper, hundreds of students have staged a silent protest in Tikapur Municipality in Western Nepal carrying banners calling for the government to act immediately to rescue the Nepali students from the war-torn area of Israel.

According to a media source, several students who are trapped in a bunker have transmitted a video message requesting that the authorities take fast action to remove them.

According to a video message sent by the students to setopati.Com, an online news outlet, “We are not safe in this bunker because earlier, our friends were brutally killed by the Hamas people entering the bunker and we don’t want to have the same fate.”

According to the Israeli military, more individuals are anticipated to be gravely injured, therefore the death toll in Israel is certain to climb.

According to Palestinian health authorities, over 400 people have died and nearly 2,000 have been wounded.

The Gaza Strip has been governed by the Palestinian militant Islamist organization Hamas since 2007. There are around 2.3 million people living in the Gaza Strip. Israel, Egypt, and the Mediterranean Sea round this 41 km long and 10 km broad region.
