A counterterrorism raid wounds an Israeli Border Police officer, causing his death

The Israeli Police said on Wednesday that an Israeli Border Police officer who had been seriously wounded during a counterterrorism operation in the Tulkarem region had passed away.

28-year-old Chief Inspector Yitav Lev Halevi led the Border Police’s prestigious Yamam counterterrorism squad.

On May 4, he was wounded during a raid in the hamlet of Dayr al-Ghusun, which is close to Tulkarem.

Five gunmen with Hamas ties were also slain in the assault.

Since October 7, Israeli security forces have detained almost 4,000 Palestinian terror suspects in Judea and Samaria, of whom over 1,700 are Hamas-linked.
