Afghanistan: Kabul Blast Leaves 7 Dead, 20 Injured

A bomb that occurred in Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul on Tuesday left at least seven persons dead and twenty wounded.

The Shia neighborhood of Dashti Barchi in Kabul was the scene of a minibus explosion, according to the Taliban authorities in charge of the country.

The terrorist organization Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), a regional branch of ISIS, has previously attacked Shia schools, hospitals, and mosques in the same region, but no one has immediately taken credit for the explosion.

According to the Associated Press (AP), this is the second explosion in the Shia neighborhood of Dashti Barchi, Kabul, in the previous two weeks.

Since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan in 2021, ISIS, via its branch ISKP, has carried out a brutal campaign there. ISIS claimed responsibility for an assault in Dashti Barchi that left at least four people dead and around seven more badly wounded only last month, according to the AP. ISIS has slaughtered hundreds of individuals, mostly members of minority groups like the Shia and Hazaras.

Among the most significant strikes carried out by ISIS include the bombing of the Kabul airport in August 2021, which resulted in the deaths of 170 civilians and 13 US troops, as well as attacks on Russian and Pakistani embassies and a Chinese-favored hotel. Interestingly, Pakistan, China, and Russia are a few of the few nations who have supported the Taliban government, which is generally despised by the world population.

According to ISIS statements quoted by CNN, the group has carried out 283 assaults in Afghanistan since the Taliban took power, during which it claims to have killed at least 670 people and wounded 1,200 others.
