After threats of a “attack,” 6 airports in France were evacuated

Following concerns of an assault, six airports around France were evacuated on Wednesday.

According to a source cited by AFP, six airports in France were closed due to “threats of attack” sent by email.

Similar threats have recently been made against French officials.

Airports at Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Nice, Toulouse, and Beauvais, which is close to Paris, were among those that required evacuation.

According to the source cited above, it would enable police to “clear up any doubts” about the veracity of the threats.

The occurrences came after additional bomb threats in France following the assault on Israel by Hamas on October 7 and the death stabbing of a teacher on Friday in the northern city of Arras by a man claiming to be an Islamic State member.

According to the aforementioned source, a DGAC aviation authority representative could only confirm evacuations due to bomb alerts at the following French airports: Lille, Lyon, Toulouse, and Beauvais.

“The DGAC’s online dashboard showed significant delays at Lille, Lyon, and Toulouse,” it said.
The article said that “following an abandoned baggage item… a security perimeter was set up to allow the usual checks” and cited a post on X for this information.

“The situation has now returned to normal,” it said.

It added that airport officials at Lyon’s Bron airport likewise reported that the all-clear had been granted.

Three planes were diverted, according to an airport spokesperson in Lille, and security personnel were reportedly on the site, according to a post on the airport’s X account.

According to the report, several travelers were evidently unaware of the reason they were being escorted out of airports, which caused confusion among other travelers on social media.
